Candice Dodson was a thought leader who positively influenced education policy and practice to support digital learning both as the Director of eLearning for the Indiana Department of Education and as the executive director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA). Technology integration across all of Indiana grew exponentially because of Candice Dodson and her team @INeLearn.
Candice tragically passed away in 2020. The Office of Digital Learning started the Candice Dodson award in 2022 to honor her memory and support those of the same spirit. The state of Indiana is honoring the legacy she left behind by recognizing an educator at each IDOE Summer of Learning Conference who shares some of Candice's qualities and traits. At Joy Jam, we will be recognizing one educator who embodies the spirit of Candice in the way they leverage digital resources and advocate and support students.
The Candice Dodson award should be given to someone who is a change agent, a thought leader. It should go to someone who isn’t okay with the status quo: someone who is always driven towards improvement and innovation for positive change. A person who receives the Candice Dodson award is someone who knows that there is enough room in the world for all of us to succeed.
